An intimate solo performance from an American legend!
For our final concert of the 2023 season, we are over the moon to be hosting one of the most fiercely original and gifted singers and songwriters performing today, or over the past 20+ years. Originally from Los Angeles, Nina was long based in New York City. She has released seven studio albums since 2000, with her first, Dogs, generating a cult following after gaining the ear of well-known BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel. Her collaborations have included producer Steve Albini, Australian drummer Jim White of Dirty Three, Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy), Jeff Parker of Tortoise, and Tuvan throat singing group Huun-Huur-Tu.
In between larger shows opening for none other than the legendary Wilco in Salt Lake City and Denver, Nina will detour to the North Fork Valley in its late autumn splendor for a rare all-acoustic performance at the historic Bross Hotel.

Live at the Bross – Mama’s Broke
September 12, 2023
Hailing from the distant shores of Nova Scotia, the duo of Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria packs a punch. Their haunting harmonies accompanied by fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin both honor and defy tradition, with original compositions drawn from old-time, Quebecois, blues, punk, Celtic, Balkan and even doom metal.
Their 2022 album Narrow Line is currently in the running for 2023 Canadian Folk Music Award “vocal group of the year” and has also been nominated for a Juno award (Best Traditional Roots Album of The Year).
This is going to be an incredible closer for our summer concert series!
Live at the Bross – Larry & Joe
July 29, 2023
Larry & Joe were destined to make music together.
Larry Bellorín hails from Monagas, Venezuela and is a legend of Llanera music. Joe Troop is from North Carolina and is a GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass and oldtime musician. Larry was forced into exile and is an asylum seeker in North Carolina. Joe, after a decade in South America, got stranded back in his stomping grounds in the pandemic. Larry works construction to make ends meet. Joe’s acclaimed “latingrass” band Che Apalache was forced into hiatus, and he shifted into action working with asylum seeking migrants.
Currently based in the Triangle of North Carolina, both men are versatile multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters on a mission to show that music has no borders. As a duo they perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass, and whatever else they decide to throw in the van. The program they offer features a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements coalesce.
Come see their dynamic synergy at the Bross Hotel in an intimate listening room space!

Live at the Bross – Sturtz
July 28, 2023
Sturtz – led by singer and guitarist Andrew Sturtz – melds soaring melodic vocals with deft string arrangements from Courtlyn Carpenter on cello, Jim Herlihy on banjo, and Will Kuepper on upright bass. This Boulder, CO-based quartet was described by NPR’s All Songs Considered as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times”.
Sturtz released their debut album You’ve Done this Before in August 2021, and a busy season of touring will see them perform an intimate all-acoustic show at the Bross Hotel in between larger venues.
“Theirs is a sound that is part acoustic indie-rock, part laid-back psychedelic folk with subtle and soft harmonies” – Durango Herald
“their distinctive and awe-inducing vocals have garnered a deep love and following” – Bolderbeat
“Sturtz and cellist Courtlyn Carpenter deliver a heart-tugging pop-folk melody, interspersed with powerful moments of silence.” – Colorado Public Radio
Live at the Bross – Clem Snide
July 1, 2023
The first night of July will ring in with brilliant songwriter Eef Barzelay, whose fame as frontman of the indie rock trio Clem Snide has morphed into a varied solo career under the same moniker (taken from a character in several William S. Burrough novels). With a kaleidoscopic musical catalog ranging from 1998’s debut album You Were A Diamond, to the 2001 breakout The Ghost of Fashion (ranked 3rd best album of the year by Rolling Stone), to the fan-collaborated Songs We Made recordings as well as the recent and mesmerizing A Life In Song project, Eef’s unmistakeable voice and disarming lyrics led NPR to rate him “the most underrated songwriter in the business today, with a sneakily firm grasp on poignancy and humor”.
Eef’s legendary covers range from Bob Dylan to the Bee Gees to Neutral Milk Hotel, and his 2017 rendition of The Velvet Underground’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror” was featured in the soundtrack to the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning The Handmaid’s Tale.
His most recent album, produced by Scott Avett of the Avett Brothers, features members of The Avett Brothers, Band of Horses, Dashboard Confessional, and Old Crow Medicine Show.

The Bross Hotel is thrilled to present the third in an intimate concert series with independent music stalwart Damien Jurado, whose prolific songwriting has stood the test of time with unassuming grace. Live at the Bross – The Barefoot Movement
July 17, 2022
Fresh off of their appearance at Music in the Mountains in Bayfield two days prior, energetic North Carolina band The Barefoot Movement will unplug for an intimate all-acoustic show in the historic Bross Hotel.
Acclaimed in the traditional, bluegrass and Americana genres, they have carved out an indelible space in the acoustic music scene since their 2011 debut album, Footwork. Their fresh sound combining dynamic vocals with fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, and guitar is infused with a captivating honesty.
The Barefoot Movement’s joyous and heartfelt live performances have garnered them fans nationwide and beyond, and earned them the 2014 IBMA Momentum Award for Band of the Year.
Live at the Bross – Tim Eriksen

Perfect. The Bross is perfect in every way – beautiful rooms, great hosts and delicious breakfasts. A short trip over the mountains for us but a world away! Ideal location for walking to the businesses on the main street or over to the wonderful park.

Oh. My. Gosh. This place is amazing! The owners have thought of everything! The rooms are beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable. The sheets are heavenly! But the food! The food alone is worth the visit… we had pancakes with blueberry compote and lemon curd. So good! Suzanne and Mike are accommodating, helpful and pleasant. All of this is surprisingly affordable. If you’re looking for a lovely getaway, this is the place.
